The fine print
Privacy & cookies
Plain-language version: we collect as little as possible, we don’t sell your data, and analytics only run if you say yes. The details are below.

Who we are
SceneDish (“we”, “us”) runs this site, and we are the “data controller” for the information described here. For any privacy question or request, email contact@scenedish.com.
What we collect, and why
- Recipes you generate. The movie you pick and any notes you add are sent to our AI providers to create your recipe, and the finished recipe (title, image, ingredients, steps) is saved so it has a shareable page. Legal basis: performance of the service you requested. We do not store your IP address.
- Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email and message so we can reply. Legal basis: your consent / our legitimate interest in answering you.
- Analytics. If you accept cookies, Google Analytics helps us understand which films and pages are popular. We also use Vercel Speed Insights to measure page speed — this is cookieless and collects no personal data. Legal basis for Google Analytics: your consent.
- Your preferences. Your theme (light/dark) and your cookie choice are stored in your own browser (local storage). This never leaves your device and isn’t personal data we can see.
Cookies & similar technology
On your first visit we ask before setting any analytics cookies. Until you click “Accept”, Google Analytics is held in a consent-denied state and sets no analytics cookies (we use Google Consent Mode v2). If you accept, Google Analytics sets a small number of cookies to count visits and pages.
We do not use advertising or tracking-for-ads cookies. You can change your decision at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page.
Who we share data with
We don’t sell your data. We use a small set of trusted providers (“processors”) purely to run the site:
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Supabase — database & image storage for recipes.
- Google — Analytics (with your consent) and the Gemini AI that writes recipes.
- kie.ai — generates the recipe images.
- FormCarry — delivers contact-form messages to us.
- TMDB — provides movie data when you search.
Where your data is processed
Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area (for example, in the United States). Where that happens, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Generated recipes are kept so their pages keep working; you can ask us to delete any of yours.
- Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry, then deleted.
- Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings and then aggregated or removed.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data, object to its use, or receive a copy, and you can withdraw consent at any time. To do any of these, email contact@scenedish.com. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
